Dreamy Avocado Cacao Mousse

This rich and decadent dessert is free from refined sugars, dairy or gluten. If we’re going to eat our nutrition as a dessert- THIS is the way to do it.

I never have an ounce of guilt eating this dreamy, creamy avocado cacao mousse. Avocados are rich in nutrients including potassium, folate, vitamin K, vitamin C, and vitamin E. While one of my favorite superfoods, cacao powder, is rich in flavanoids, antioxidants, minerals, and other nutrients that offer several health benefits, including supporting heart health, improving blood flow, lowering blood pressure, and boosting mood and brain function. It also boasts 2 hardboiled eggs & protein powder making this a balanced, nourishing sweet treat.

And the best part - this dessert takes less than 10 minutes to make! Best serve chilled. You can top with nuts, fresh fruit, or dollop of coconut whipped cream. but the cacao & cinnamon completely masks the flavors of both egg and avocado, in

Ingredients

(makes 1-2 servings)

  • 1/2 large ripe avocado

  • 1 hard-boiled egg

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons of raw cacao powder

1/2 cup coconut cream (leave in the fridge overnight to harden)

  • ½ cup date syrup or 100% maple syrup (I always start with half of the recommended sweetener in a recipe and add to taste. I always err on the side of less sweet than too sweet. you can also sub for monk fruit, but then need to account for adding extra liquid to maintain consistency with either coconut milk, whole milk or olive oil)

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 scoop unflavored protein powder or collagen peptides

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon (you can also sub with any other ‘flavor’ you’d prefer. I think this would be excellent with cayenne pepper for a spice or mint, orange extract or even extra virgin olive oil)

  • pinch of sea salt (I also top with Maldon sea salt)

How To Make

  1. Add all ingredients into a food processor and blend until SUPER creamy and smooth. Season and sweeten to taste.

  2. Pour into a jar or divide into 2 small ramekins. 1 Let sit in fridge for 1 or 2 hours to set or enjoy straight away.

  3. Finish with your desired toppings. Coconut flakes, nuts, fresh berries etc.

  4. Store up to 3 days in refrigerator and chill until ready to serve.
